David Brelsford won the Hula Manu writing competition at the Brigham Young University Hawaii Campus in 1973.
He then had a thirty-year hiatus while he was actively involved in the accumulation of babies and mortgages.
He started writing again in the early 2000s but still finds it hard to discipline himself to a regular timetable.
He would much rather be square dancing, walking the dog or even chopping firewood!
